Vivos and Expansion Orthodontics in Portland

Some patients have airway concerns related to jaw development, narrow arches, crowding, or oral structure. Expansion orthodontics and Vivos therapy may be considered for select patients as part of an airway-focused dental approach.

Vivos treatment is designed to support oral and airway development by addressing certain structural factors that may contribute to restricted breathing, crowding, and sleep-disordered breathing patterns.

At Aesthetic Smiles, we evaluate each patient individually to determine whether expansion orthodontics, Vivos therapy, clear aligners, or another treatment option may be appropriate.

Clear aligners and airway-focused orthodontics

Clear aligners may be used to improve tooth position, smile appearance, and bite relationships. For some patients, clear aligners may also be part of a broader treatment plan involving airway, TMJ, cosmetic, or restorative concerns.

When planning clear aligner treatment, we consider more than straight teeth. We evaluate the bite, jaw function, tooth wear, facial balance, and airway-related factors so treatment supports both aesthetics and function. This is especially important for patients with TMJ symptoms, clenching, grinding, narrow arches, or sleep-related concerns.
